Noodles & Company: Filling the Pan-Asian Void

Noodles & Company recently opened in Green Hills, and it’s conveniently located next to my job for lunch options.  After living in Atlanta for 6.5 years, I got spoiled with great noodle spots and Pan-Asian restaurants that were truly good.  I don’t really like Pei Wei or PF Chang’s, so I’ve been craving a nice bowl of noodles for a while.

I have to admit I was a bit leery of a place that offers American, Italian, and Asian noodle dishes. I imagined a weird smell of curry and marinara wafting through the air.  So when I stopped in for lunch a few weeks ago, I was pleasantly surprised.

You are not bombarded by a ton of smells.  In fact, it doesn’t really have any distinctive scent.  I chose the Thai Curry Soup with organic tofu.  It.was.amazing.  The broth was spicy and sweet and savory.  It wasn’t watery or too thick.  The coconut didn’t overpower the broth.  The soup had rice vermicelli, onions, mushrooms, cabbage, and a lot of tofu.  Once I added a healthy dose of sriracha, the soup had the right amount of kick to it.  The tofu had a pleasant texture, and it really melded well with the broth.

I enjoyed that the spot was an order at the counter and then have it brought to you table set up.  It made things efficient without being too casual.  I might need to get a glass of wine next time. That would have made my lunch even more heavenly.  I would recommend swinging by for an early or a late lunch though.  Parking is rough at the Mall at peak lunch time.  If you go off-peak, it is a more relaxing meal.  Overall, I think Noodles & Company will do well in Green Hills and give Pei Wei a run for its money.

You really just can't go wrong with noodles. I'm really eager to try this place!

My coworker has had the buttered noodles with chicken a few times, and my mom got one of the Italian dishes. But the Asian dishes looked the most appealing to me.
